The Stone Roses

The Stone Roses

Cult band the Stone Roses, pioneers of the Manchester movement, seized the year 1989 with all-time hit songs such as Fools Gold/What the World is Waiting For fresh off their debut album, also called The Stone Roses. Up to 27000 people bought tickets for the best-remembered concert by The Stone Roses’ concert during that period.

Ian Brown, John Squire and the rest of the band rose metorically, becoming critical darlings as well as favourites with the public, only to be ultimately destroyed by a lengthy court battle against their first recording company, which was accused of unfair dealings. By 1996 The Stone Roses had disbanded, and it has taken them 15 years for them to come back to their fans: two Stone Roses concerts have been announced in their native Manchester, which will be followed by a world tour by the Stone Roses.
